【Material Girl】Something About Scents: Aesop Mini Haul

Not until recent years do I start to try out skincare products from famous brands. In the past, I always used random products coming in handy, and did not care if those products worked better in a set.

Aesop is a brand that I have found out so long, but did not have the urge to try out. I was first drawn by its simple yet elegant look. Words rather than pictures or logos printed on the cover, resembling newspapers, really caught my eyes. I admire this kind of design so much.


會注意到Aesop這個品牌，最初是因為它純粹文字，沒有圖案或是顯眼logo的包裝設計。一直以來都喜歡報紙類的設計，單純的文字構築了它另類誘人的美感，而不同的字型以及編排方式，也隱隱道出了它的品牌風格。


Aesop 來自澳洲墨爾本，其產品選用了草本精華以及抗氧化成分，而它的包裝設計，以及店面門市的裝潢，也一貫維持構思精巧、環保永續的設計理念，護膚、護髮和身體保養等產品都有一致的舒緩清香。簡單、乾淨、俐落、有個性，最重要的是有著迷人舒服的香氣，讓我第一次踏進店裡就為這個味道深深著迷。

Resurrection Aromatique Hand Balm stays as my very first Aesop purchase. The citron aroma really lures me. Usually, I prefer fruity scents, but Aesop strangely wins me over with its relaxing citron smell.

Not so long after my first purchase, I went back to Aesop once more for their perfume, that was sprayed on the linen package of my hand balm. (Bravo Aesop marketing tricks!) The Tacit Perfume is nothing like my previous ones, which are always pinkish fruity sweetie smells. Tacit smells so refreshing and relieving. Yes, relieving. It does wipe out most of my pressure.


Tacit is described as such on Aesop’s official website: 

Tacit is at once familiar in its citrus notes and distinctly contemporary in liberal use of Basil Grand Vert. And as the title implies, somewhat elusive in character – more readily experienced than articulated. The formulation was born of two key inspirations: the fresh notes found in traditional colognes; and the culture, topography, and fragile, perfumed vegetation of the Mediterranean coast. 

我的第一件Aesop，是他們的明星商品－－賦活芳香護手霜。濃濃的佛手柑味道加上滋潤的質地，很難不讓人喜歡上啊！當初在它和尊尚芳香護手霜之間猶豫，後者又多了輕微去角質的功能，以檀香為主調的前味聞起來有點苦澀，不過後味非常迷人，一股舒緩有溫度的味道。但要渡過它又苦又濃烈的前味才能進入我喜歡的味道，好像有點勉強，就先暫時捨下它，帶走了一直以來都保持溫暖氣息的柑橘賦活護手霜。


會在短時間內再度踏進Aesop，起因於櫃姐在包裝我的護手霜的麻布袋上噴了實在太療癒的香水。回到家，將布袋放在書桌旁，淡淡的柑橘香調伴了我好幾天，於是又受不了誘惑，帶回了Aesop的悟香水（好厲害的行銷手法！）

It is the first time I love citron smell over fruity ones. I really love how Aesop smells like: refreshing, relaxing and to put is exaggeratively, resurrecting, as if I was walking barefoot along a sunbathed meadow with dew hanging on the tips of grass, and as if I were pressure-free.

我平常用的香水幾乎全都是甜膩的花果香，像是Gucci Envy Me、Jill Stuart 同名淡香水、Dior Blooming Bouquet、Chloe同名淡香精、Lanvin光韻、Paul Smith Rose、Miu Miu謬斯女神、Roger & Gallet的玫瑰和地中海無花果之類的香水，甜甜的女孩感的味道。


Aesop的Tacit悟香水打破了以往只喜歡果香的我的自我設限，將療癒舒壓的柑橘香調帶進我的生活。它的味道帶點精油的香氣，輕鬆、清新、療癒、舒壓，不誇張。像是赤腳走在被陽光烤過，而其上的草尖帶著露珠的草皮上的感覺，壓力頓時減去一半。柚子的前味舒緩了疲憊的嗅覺，緩緩帶出岩蘭草之心的中味，最後以羅勒墊底，厚實了整個清新舒緩的調性。

I got so many samples this time, including the geranium, the primrose and the chamomile series. Until now, I have only tried the Geranium Leaf Body Scrub and the Primrose Facial Cleansing Masque, which all turned out very good. What’s more, they all smell so nice.

I guess I’ll keep trying Aesop’s products for a long long time;)


這次，櫃姐送了我超多試用包，包括天竺葵、櫻草和甘菊的各種產品。目前只試了天竺葵身體去角質和櫻草潔淨面膜，效果都不錯，重點是味道都非常舒服好聞！


找了很久，終於找到讓我傾心的草本香味。我想應該會再持續嘗試Aesop的產品好一段時間;)
